Lisa Whatley, RN, IBCLC, ESA, R-CYAMT
Lisa’s first course of study was Human Development & Family Living, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas in 1989, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991. In 2019 she completed the Preparation for School Nursing Certification program at WSU School of Nursing and Washington Educational Staff Associate certification. She is currently pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certification. |
As a third generation nurse, mother/baby nursing came as a natural specialization in her care of the family. Lisa has worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings: labor and delivery, postpartum/gyn and special care nursery, pediatric clinics, daycares, and homecare specializing in treatment of jaundiced newborns and those requiring breastfeeding assistance. Lisa has developed an area of expertise working with premature infants and their families in the NICU setting and in their transition to home.
A professional and personal passion for breastfeeding led her to achieve the designation of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2000. Lisa served as the volunteer chair of the Seattle-King County Breastfeeding Coalition and the Western Washington Steering Committee from 2001-2006. In 2012, the Breastfeeding Coalition of WA awarded Lisa the “Spirit of Service” award for promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and families. |
Lisa was invited to be the first of a select group to study and earn certification as a Women’s Wellness Educator from the Well Grounded Institute in 2016. The year long program focused on 6 Pillars of Well-Being: Calm Mind, Nourished Body, Restorative Rest, Joyful Movement, Authentic Connections, and Aligned Living.
Ever “Looking Up”, Lisa can’t help but study more about her passions. Most recently she completed a 100 hour online + 200 hour RYT immersion with Yahweh Yoga, established as an Arizona State licensed private post secondary education institute and registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance, setting the standard for excellence in Christian Yoga teacher training. She is a founding member of the Christian Yoga Association. |
