Lisa’s first course of study was Human  Development and Family Living, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas in 1989 followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991.

As a third generation nurse, mother/baby nursing came as a natural specialization in her care of the family.  Lisa has worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings: labor and delivery, postpartum/gyn and special care nursery, pediatric clinics,  daycares, and homecare specializing in treatment of  jaundiced newborns and those requiring breastfeeding assistance.  Lisa has developed an area of expertise working with premature infants and their families in the NICU setting and in their transition to home.

A passion for breastfeeding led her to achieve the designation of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2000.

In 2012, the Breastfeeding Coalition of WA awarded Lisa the “Spirit of Service” for promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and families.
